AR: Urban Habitat
Weeks 6 - 10 (second half of term)
AR: Urban Habitat
In this immersive tech-meets-nature workshop, students design and code their own 3D urban habitats for local wildlife. They’ll research native species and sustainable design principles, then use augmented reality (AR) to bring their digital ecosystems to life.
Using 3D modelling and coding tools, students will simulate environmental factors like seasons and animal behavior to create interactive, eco-friendly cityscapes that support biodiversity.
What you’ll learn.
The role of green infrastructure in urban sustainability
Needs of native wildlife and biodiversity principles
Skills in 3D design, coding, and AR technology
How to design for both people and planet
What you’ll do.
Research local species and their habitats
Create a 3D model of a sustainable urban ecosystem
Code interactive elements that simulate real-world conditions
Explore and present your design in augmented reality
What you’ll gain.
Hands-on experience with emerging tech
Knowledge of urban biodiversity and design thinking
Confidence in presenting tech-based environmental solutions
A future-focused view on how cities can coexist with nature
Suited for students in Years 3 - 6
Duration: 1.5 hrs x 5 weeks
Cost: $60 for only this program, or $100 if combined with Minecraft: Eco-home. The program is FREE with a NSW Creative Kids Voucher
We require students to bring:
